My Approach To Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is not simply about suppressing symptoms or finding a “natural alternative” to medication.

I work with plants in a deeply individual way, considering the whole picture of your health - your nervous system, hormones, digestion, stress patterns, energy, lifestyle and constitution.

Your herbal prescription is tailored specifically to you and adjusted as your body changes and responds over time.

This work is gentle, collaborative and rooted in supporting the body’s own capacity to regulate and heal.

Your journey with the herbs begins in the garden.

In the growing season you are welcome to walk among the living herbs, to smell their scents, touch their leaves, and feel their presence. This is where your connection with plant medicine begins.

You can pick any herbs that call to you and enjoy them as a freshly prepared herbal tea during your consultation. This helps you to connect with the plants beyond their physical properties, feeling their energetic resonance and even beginning to sense how they might help you.

Herbal medicine is deeply holistic. It’s not just about what a plant does, but how it feels, what it stirs within you, and the connection it invites. This soul-to-soul meeting with the plants is what sets herbal medicine apart from other approaches. We’re not only treating individual people, but also restoring relationship and remembering the original and time-less medicine of the earth.

The herbal clinic is tucked away on my family’s organic smallholding in the heart of the Chilterns in Buckinghamshire, offering a peaceful and nourishing space to begin your healing journey.

Many of the herbs I use have been grown here specifically to be used as medicine and I also wildcraft those that grow abundantly in our local hedgerows and meadows. The herbs are dried for infusions and tinctures as well as personalised formulas tailored to each person’s unique needs. Harvesting herbs is always done with intention and in alignment with lunar cycles to honour natural rhythms and vitality.

Herbal Medicine Rooted In Nature, Individualised For You

A deeply personalised naturopathic approach supporting all people with bespoke herbal medicine and whole-person care.

What Working Together Looks Like

Step 1 — Initial Consultation & Assessment

90-minute consultation exploring your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, nervous system, hormones, digestion and overall constitution. Tongue, pulse and iris analysis alongside naturopathic assessment.

Step 2 — Herbal Prescription

Your herbal formula is then hand blended specifically for you. Herbs are usually posted or can be collected directly from the clinic. Creating your personalised herbal medicines can take up to three days to prepare. Included in your bespoke tincture are Bach flower remedies for emotional and nervous system support.

Step 3 — Ongoing Support

We review how your body responds over time and gently adapt your herbal prescription as needed usually at your follow-up appointment about 4 or 5 weeks after your initial consultation.

Step 4 — Deeper Healing & Resilience

The aim is not simply symptom suppression, but supporting long-term resilience, regulation and reconnection with your body. Your herbal prescriptions will keep evolving until you are satisfied your concerns have been resolved. Herbal teas, balms, powders and other herbal products can be made up for you for on-going support.

Step 5 - Continued Naturopathic Care

As a registered patient, you are welcome to purchase herbal preparations from my dispensary for acute or first-aid support as needed. This also includes travel, detox and seasonal cleanse formulas.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • While much of my work focuses on women’s health, I also support all adults and children with a wide range of health concerns including digestion, stress-related symptoms, chronic fatigue patterns, post-viral recovery, inflammation, recurrent infections and general depletion.

My approach is always deeply individual and centred around understanding the wider picture of your health.

  • No. Many people come to me without a diagnosis but know they do not feel fully well.

Rather than focusing only on labels, I look at patterns within the body and how different systems may be interacting — including digestion, sleep, stress resilience, hormones, nervous system function, energy and lifestyle.

You do not need to have all the answers before we begin.

  • My work is deeply personalised and rooted in naturopathic principles, traditional herbal medicine and careful observation of the individual as a whole.

I do not work from generic protocols or one-size-fits-all plans. Your herbal prescription is hand blended specifically for you and evolves over time as your body changes and responds.

I place strong emphasis on nervous system support, digestion, nourishment and supporting the body’s wider terrain, rather than simply suppressing symptoms in isolation.

Alongside rigorous clinical training and years of experience in practice, particularly within women’s health, I also work with a strong sense of intuition and deep listening. Often there are patterns, stories and subtleties within the body that cannot always be measured on paper alone. I believe both clinical knowledge and intuitive insight have an important place in truly individual care.

  • This varies greatly from person to person.

Some people notice changes relatively quickly, while for others the process is slower and more gradual. Often the earliest signs are subtle - improved sleep, steadier energy, feeling calmer, more resilient or more connected to yourself again.

There is no “correct” timeline. Herbal medicine tends to work gently and cumulatively, particularly when supporting long-standing patterns of depletion or dysregulation.

  • No. My approach is realistic, supportive and designed to meet you where you are.

While we may discuss nutrition, sleep, stress, movement or daily habits, I do not believe healing needs to come from perfection, restriction or extreme routines.

The focus is usually on small, sustainable changes that help support the body over time.

  • Where appropriate, I may recommend functional or diagnostic testing to help build a fuller picture of your health.

Testing is always optional and at an additional cost and recommendations are made on an individual basis depending on your symptoms, history and goals.

  • Yes. I work with clients both online and in person.

Online consultations are held via video call and your herbal medicine can be posted directly to you within the UK.

  • In many cases, yes — however this is always assessed carefully on an individual basis.

Part of my role is to consider safety, suitability and potential herb-drug interactions when formulating your prescription. Please always disclose any medications, supplements or diagnosed conditions before beginning herbal support.
